Last updated: July 24, 2026

Frontend Mastery ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices available to you when you use the Frontend Mastery platform (the "Platform").

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Social sign-in information. The public registration flow uses Google or GitHub sign-in. We do not ask you to create a Frontend Mastery password. Depending on the provider and the permissions you grant, we receive information such as your name, email address, profile image, and provider account identifier.
  • Account and profile information. We create a Frontend Mastery account and developer profile for you. You may add or edit a username, bio, display name, profile image, and social handles.
  • Learning and community activity. We collect your lesson and topic progress, challenge solutions and code, publication status, screenshots, AI feedback requests and results, likes, comments, views, badges, and related activity.
  • Authentication and security information. We store provider account and session information needed to keep you signed in and protect the Platform. This may include authentication tokens, session identifiers, IP addresses, user-agent information, and security or rate-limit records.
  • Communications. If you contact us, we collect your contact details and the information you include in your message.
  • Usage and device information. We may collect page views, interactions, referring pages, browser and device information, network requests, errors, performance data, approximate location derived from IP address, and session replays. User input is masked in session replay telemetry.

2. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Create and manage accounts, sessions, profiles, and authentication.
  • Provide learning content, challenges, the code editor, progress tracking, and community features.
  • Generate requested screenshots and AI-assisted feedback for solutions.
  • Display content you choose to publish, including profiles, solutions, comments, and activity.
  • Personalize and improve the Platform and understand how its features perform.
  • Respond to support requests and service communications.
  • Detect abuse, enforce our Terms of Service, and protect the Platform.
  • Comply with legal obligations and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share information:

  • With your sign-in provider. Google or GitHub processes information as part of the social sign-in flow under its own privacy policy.
  • With service providers. We use providers for hosting, databases, file storage, monitoring and analytics, authentication, and AI processing. They may process information only to provide services to us and under their applicable terms.
  • With other users and the public. Profiles, published solutions, screenshots, comments, likes, and other content you make public can be viewed by others.
  • For legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of Frontend Mastery, our users, or others.
  • As part of a business transfer. Information may be transferred in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets.

4. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and browser storage to maintain your session, remember preferences such as theme, keep local editor state, monitor application versions, prevent abuse, and understand Platform usage and performance. Our monitoring provider may also use cookies or similar identifiers for analytics and session replay.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent sign-in or other Platform features from working correctly.

5. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as needed to provide the Platform, maintain security and business records, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes. Retention periods vary by the type of information and why we use it. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it where reasonably possible.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Request access to or a copy of your personal information.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Request deletion of your information.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Request data portability.
  • Withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.
  • Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.

To exercise a privacy right, contact us using the address below. We may need to verify your identity before completing your request.

8. International Data Transfers

We and our service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers of personal information.

9. Third-Party Services and Links

The Platform may link to or integrate with third-party services. Their handling of your information is governed by their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices.

10. Children's Privacy

The Platform is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on the Platform and update the date above. We may provide additional notice when a change is material or when required by law.
